7 Years and Counting

Today I have official worked at my job for 7 years. It's so hard to believe, it seems like just yesterday I started over at the Financial Aid Office at Appalachian State University. I can even remember the pant suit I had went and bought at JcPenny because I wanted to job so bad. It was a way for me to get my foot into a NC state job. I kept thinking about how much I had spent on that pant suit in hopes that it would pay off. I remember driving the day or two before to make sure I knew were the building was and where I could park for the interview. I remember the walk into the building, meeting the assistant director going into her office, and then her proceeding to tell me that I would meet the rest of the office and have the interview. That will be fine, I say...

Little did I know, I was going to have an interview with the whole office! :-o
The office consisted of about 17 people at that time.
I will never forget my heart dropping to my feet. I thought that I was going to die!

In the end I got the job, the interview must have went smoother than what I thought it had. ;-)

I worked in that office for a little over 5 1/2 years and then was able to move to a better job that I love down at the Physical Plant.
Now don't get me wrong, if I was to win the lottery, I would love to be able to stay home with the boys. Or if I could afford to start my own business, then maybe I could do it. For now though, I like my job and will be keeping it until something major happens as listed above or they kick me out. LOL

Waking Up

Each morning I am greeted by this.....

How can you not love that little grin? I just hope he keeps it up, even when he gets older and has to get up. :)

Spring

Spring oh spring, where are you? I am so ready for spring, ready to be able to just put on a light jacket and head out the door in the morning. Ready to hear the birds sing, ready to see flowers and green come back in the trees. I am ready to spend more time outside, ready to take some hikes on some of the trails on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I am sure Devon will love to be able to ride his dirt bike more and for Chandler I know he is going to just love to be able to feel grass in between his little toes for the first time ever. Oh I can't wait for spring.

It's wishful thinking on my part though. It's just February in these here mountain of North Carolina and so I know from experience that it will be a few more months before we see the real spring come around. Just know spring, I can't wait to see you!

Valentines Day

My Valentines Day was just like any other Valentines Day except that I did get to spend the whole day with husband. We never really do anything big, I mean we get each other a card but that is about the extent of our gift buying. We enjoyed the day by spending time with each other and doing nothing. Brad helped me set up my new treadmill, then I cleaned house. That was about the extent of the day.

We did do something a little diffrent. My best friend Jen had moved recently and we had helped them, but did not get a chance to help with the dinning room table. So, we packed up and headed on over so husband could help get that moved. Then our two families went to dinner, where you ask??? Wendy's! What is more exciting on Valentines Day then going to spend time with people you love and enjoying dinner at a place we all love.

There is something very special about our local Wendy's that some people may not know. Wendy's in Boone, NC is the only two story, free standing Wendy's in the country, and one of the busiest in the world. So of course the kids always want to sit up stairs, and who wouldn't want too. It's neat to look down on the highway and see the cars go by.

I really enjoyed Valentines Day this year, and as I told Jen, it's one I will never forget.

No Weigh In

There will be no weigh in this week for me. I am still feeling under the weather and with the weaning going on I feel that it will be pointless to weight in this week. Hopefully things will get better over the coming days and I can get back on track next week.

The Last Few Days....

Have brought great sadness to me. I got sick this past weekend, fever, aching all over, I just knew it was the flu. So on Monday my wonderful husband staid out of work and took me to the doctor. I was so sick there was no way that I could get the boys ready and drive myself to the doctor. Thank you Brad for helping me out like you did with the boys and things around the house. You will never know how much you mean to me!

I ended up not having the flu, but have a sinus infection along with a bladder infection. Which I would take any day over the flu! The nice doctor put me on antibiotic's, which means no breastfeeding. He said that I could try to feed him, but it would taste funny to him and he would more than likely not eat. I could even pump and dump until it's out of my system. Well after much thought about it I have decided to just stop and wean him. Chandler is just a little over 6 months old and I think that is better than not trying at all. However, I am feeling bad for Chandler we have had a few ruff evenings and nights. I know it will get better over time, it just makes me sad to see him like this. I wish I could take the sadness away from him. Just always know Chandler, Mommy is here for you and loves you so much!

In the mean time I am using lots of cabage leafs, cold compresses, and drinking nasty sage tea. Things have to start feeling better real soon. ;)

Weigh in #12

Weigh in this week was a shock to me. I did fall off the wagon some, but still lost weight. I am now down a total of 13lbs. I hope to be down a total of 20lbs by the end of February, I think that I can do it, heck I know I can do it! Only 7 more pounds to go!

Saturday School Oh My!

Winter has not really been to bad here in the high country of North Carolina. We have been out of work and school, but nothing really major of a snow storm. Of course we do not get snow's like we use to get when I was small either. Last night we got a good snow, but the wind blew and the snow drifted and it's really cold outside. The high for today is like 15. So no playing out in this snow! The kids were out of school yesterday and again today, and I really don't see them going back this week at all. They are scheduled to go to school on Saturday! I don't think that Devon is too excited, but he will live. I never had to do this as a child, but my husband Brad did and he knows how bad Devon is not wanting to go. They will only go half a day so it will not be to bad. Devon is in fourth grade and this is the first time he has ever had to do this, maybe winter will not be so bad next year and he will not have to go. We shall wait and see. In the mean time, I am happy to say I am ready for spring!

Here is a picture we took as the snow really came down last night.

Weigh in #11

I am behind a few days, I meant to post Friday but never got around to it. I just wanted to do a quick update on my weight loss. I once again was down another pound, so total weight loss of 12.2lbs. Every pound counts!
Hope this week to be down a little more than a pound.
