Carbohydrates

As I changed up my diet some the past few days, I find myself not counting points like I had been. I am now watching more on the side of carbohydrates. I find that everything has carbs in it, especially the good stuff. I say good stuff, but in all reality it's the bad stuff.

By doctors orders, I still can eat carbs, it's just the amount that I have to watch. I can have about 160 a day. I find myself looking at everything I pick up, wanting to see how many carbs it has in it. I am finding out that mustard, protein such as tuna, turkey and even cheese are now my good things to eat.
Do any of you watch your carb intake? If so do you have any tips that you could share?

I am putting myself to the test this week with the diet (I should not call it a diet, it's my new way of living) and walking. I will check back in come Friday to let you know how it's going and if I have lost any weight doing this.

PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome)

Back in 2007 when we finally decided to go to a fertility doctor, I was told that I have PCOS.

He helped with getting my body where it need to be for me to get pregnant, and I did in late Oct. -Nov. 2007. Chandler was born at the end of July 2008. Since having Chandler, I know what a blessing he has made my life. Don't get me wrong so does Devon our older son, but I know how long I wanted a 2nd child. I had almost given up hope to ever have another one.

In the past few months I have noticed changes in my body, going back to the PCOS symptoms. I had asked my gyno about going back on Metformin, but she would not proscribe it and I left it at that. I had the urge that I needed to go back and see Dr. Thatcher in Johnson City, TN. I finally called and got an appointment. He is a great doctor and now I am so glad that I went back. After doing lots of blood work, and a ultra sound I found out that on my left ovary I have a cyst about the size of a tennis ball. He feels sure it's not cancer, and thinks that it will shrink on it's on. I go back at the end of May for more test.

In the mean time I am working harder on my diet and walking more. I want to get control of this so it's not in control of me. I hope that when I go back in May that I have lost more weight and I am starting to feel better.

Yesterdays Picture...

was taken at a place our family loves to go to. A place that is full of wildlife, peace, and just a place that I could stay at forever. It's a place that makes me want to go back in time and live when my grandparents were young. Cades Cove National Park, The park is located in the Great Smoky Mountains. Each time we visit the Pigeon Forge, TN area we go there, for a ride through the park. We try to have a picnic, and I would love to be able to take our new camper and stay for a week there.

There is a loop that is 11 miles that you can drive, walk or bike. There are plenty of trails to hike, horse back riding, and old homes and churches to look at. Then there is our favorite thing to do, look and watch the wildlife. We always see plenty of deer, turkey and sometimes even black bears.

I would suggest checking this place out next time you are in the area.

My husband is a deer hunter, and all I ever hear is how he would just love to hunt in the park. Ha! Is what I tell him, I am sure him and many other men would love to hunt there too.

Weight Loss

I just wanted to post an update on my weight loss. I am very excited about what progress I have made, just wish it would come off faster. ;)
However, I know all this weight did not come on over night and it will take me a little while to loose it. I still have about 30 more pounds to loose, maybe more. Since having Chandler I have lost a total of 43.8lbs!

Mashed Potatoes...........

On Monday I had cooked supper as we say here in the South. I thought I would do some mashed potatoes and let Chandler try some. I thought that he would love them. I mean what kid don't like mashed potatoes?

Well this was the reaction I got from him:

Chandler was not to sure about those mashed potatoes. I am not sure if it was the texture or what, he ate several bites though. I will keep working with him and see where we get with it. I am sure he will come around in time, at least I hope so. :)

10 Years

10 Years ago this past Thursday I married the most amazing man. It's hard to believe that we have been married 10 years, where does time go? I feel like it was just yesterday when we first started talking and dating. Even though we have had ups and downs in our relationship, I would not trade one day with out him. I still get butterflies when he looks at me, I thank God every day that I have him in my life.

This weekend we had a great time, we staid at a cabin in Pigeon Forge, had a massage, and just relaxed. Even though we missed the boys like crazy, it was great to spend time together and remember why we love each other so much.
