You’re Not the Boss of Me: Brat Proofing Your 4 to 12 Year Old Child

I recently had the opportunity to read the book:

When I first heard of this book, I was so excited for the opportunity to read this book. When I received the book and started reading it, it made me think back to all the times I have thought to myself while in a store or just out and about.... "That kid is such a little brat!" Come on what mom hasn't thought that a time or two right?

Well as a Mom I don't want to think my child is a brat, I mean who does? Right??? The truth of the matter is maybe my child is a little bit of a brat and it really opened my eyes.

This book is a great book and I would suggest it to any parent, no matter if you think you have a brat or not. I am using it with my older son who is going on 11 years old and when my little one gets older I will use the ideas she has for him also. The book is very down to earth and very easy for me to read and understand.

I think what stuck out the most, is that most parents want to "fix" our children, but Betsy really points out it's not our children that need to be"fixed" it's us as parents. We need to fix ourselves, to learn how to deal with our children. It made me think really what she was telling me, I always want to try to change my son, but it's me that needs to do the changing. There are so many different topics in the book and I think Betsy has them all covered, all things to do with a younger child to an older child. Over all I give this book A+ and it's a book that I will return to time after time.

I hope you all will take the opportunity to check out this book, it's a great book for any parent to read!

Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of HarperCollins and received a copy of You’re Not the Boss of Me to facilitate my review. Mom Central also sent me a gift certificate to thank me for taking the time to participate.

Sounds like a great book! I have a 10yo daughter who can sometimes be....a little bratty! She is funny and a little sweetheart, but can definitely test my nerves at times!
